Issues
1. Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management: One of the primary responsibilities of a Justice of the Peace is to participate in the county’s budgeting process. I will address the
plans for fiscal responsibility, including strategies for efficient budget management, allocation of resources to essential services, and transparency in financial decision-making.
2. Public Safety and Law Enforcement:
My approach is to enhancing public safety and supporting law enforcement agencies within Jefferson County. This will involve addressing issues such as Juvenal crime, crime prevention strategies, collaboration with local law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of residents, by passing legislation that I have thoroughly viewed and discussed with County officials, department heads, my fellow Legislators and committee members.
3. Infrastructure and Development: The state of infrastructure and development projects within Jefferson County is a crucial issue. This includes but is not limited to addressing concerns related to construction on roads and road maintenance, ditches, grass cutting off the highways, the expansion of new broadband infrastructure for the area, fostering growth within the County such as the New Health Department building, the Veterans Administration building, the Coroner's Office, and more.
4. Budgetary Oversight: Another significant responsibility of a Justice of the Peace is to contribute to the budgetary oversight process within Jefferson County. As part of the Quorum Court, JPs are involved in reviewing and approving the county’s budget, allocating funds for various programs and services, and ensuring fiscal responsibility. They must carefully assess financial proposals, prioritize spending based on community needs, and work towards maintaining a balanced budget that serves the best interests of county residents.
